Back at It

It’s been a while since I’ve checked in. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve checked in at all since starting Volume II of The Book of Glads. Truth: I thought the second book would be done by the end of last year. I am devoting myself to it full time now, and expect I’ll get through it soon!

Today, I was walking back from ACME with Jeremie, my wife, asking her for some advice on how to do the social promotion of this next book. I didn’t do any of that for Book 1, The Alpha Upgrade of HD Heathers. Didn’t know how. And with the job, didn’t have time for it.

She subscribes to author newsletters and said that it was just a matter of communicating with your readers about your writing process, and about your day. She offered an example as we walked by a ginkgo on 11th street. She said, and I’m paraphrasing, “All summer long, the gingko trees were dropping berries, and they stank. Maybe something about the smell reminds you of a scene from your book because you described a gingko tree at Washington Square in Chapter 5. That’s the sort of thing that I, as your reader, want to know about.”
