I walked down to the Beaux Arts Lofts a couple of days ago. It was a hot one, but I hadn’t visited that neighborhood for a while, and I wanted to get a couple of photos for today’s post.
One of the main characters introduced in Book of Glads Volume 2 is Fox Madison. She was mentioned briefly in Chapter 5 of Volume 1 but she’s among those that are center stage in V2. The Beaux Arts Lofts is in the Callowhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, and that’s where Fox lives. Callowhill used to be home to a lot of large-scale manufacturing, so it’s filled with former factories, and many have been turned into commercial properties.
If I had to pinpoint the first thing that got my wife and I interested in moving Philadelphia, it was looking at the listings in that neighborhood while cooped up during quarantine. Some of those lofts, with their high ceilings and open floor plans, were amazing—like spaces where creative dreams came true.
